DESIGN IV
SPRING 2021
AUSTIN, TX
Working from a group-developed urban master plan, this zone was designated as townhouse style living for University of Texas faculty and their families.  With the site acting as the transition between the urban grid and the greenery of Shoal Creek, the townhouse community reflects this gradient at a smaller scale.  A main organizing pathway acts as an extended semipublic route through the townhouses which provides circulation for both the residents and passerby.  A series of planter boxes act as screens to shield the semiprivate spaces and secondary paths leading to individual units.  Units have grouped entries to encourage more intimate neighborly relations, which is furthered by the interlocking nature of the units.
